Peel Selection Guide
FOR AHA SKIN PEELS INCLUDING GLYCOLIC ACID, LACTIC ACID AND COMBINATION PEELS
-
Choose a Glycolic Acid Peel. It penetrates deeper to clear pores, regulate oil, and smooth texture, making it ideal for acne, enlarged pores, and uneven tone.
-
Choose a Lactic Acid Peel. It provides gentle exfoliation while also hydrating the skin, making it perfect for dryness, dullness, and early fine lines.
-
Both Glycolic and Lactic Acid Peels can help, but if your skin is sensitive or prone to dryness, go with Lactic Acid. If your skin is oilier or more resilient, choose Glycolic Acid.
-
Go for a Glycolic/Lactic Combination Peel. It balances exfoliation and hydration in one treatment, making it a good “all-rounder” for mixed concerns.
-
Always begin with a lower-strength peel (10%) to build tolerance. For beginners with sensitive or dry skin, lactic acid is often the safest choice. For oilier or acne-prone skin, glycolic acid at a low strength works well.
-
No. Most people achieve great results sticking with the type of peel that suits their skin best. However, some choose to rotate or alternate (for example, glycolic one week, lactic the next) — but only once they have built proper tolerance and their skin responds well.
