-
Yes — a neutraliser is vital when using glycolic or lactic acid peels. The peel solution cannot be removed with water alone, so you must use a neutraliser to safely stop the peel and restore your skin’s natural pH.
-
When the peel is applied, the acids bond to your skin and lower its natural pH. Water cannot break this bond, so rinsing with water alone will not stop the peel. Without neutralising, the peel will continue working, which can cause burns, irritation, or damage. Using a neutraliser ensures the peel is safely deactivated and helps protect your skin from unwanted side effects.
-
We provide a specially formulated neutralisers designed to be gentle on the skin while effectively restoring balance. Always have the neutraliser ready and within reach before starting your peel.
-
Always have your neutraliser prepared and ready before starting your peel. Follow these steps once your treatment time is complete (or sooner if you feel strong burning or discomfort):
Apply the neutraliser generously over the treated area using clean fingertips, cotton pads, or gauze.
Leave the neutraliser in place for 30–60 seconds to allow it to fully deactivate the peel.
Rinse thoroughly with cool water to remove all traces of the peel and neutraliser.
Pat skin dry gently with a clean towel — do not rub.
Follow with a hydrating moisturiser to calm and soothe the skin.
Apply sunscreen (SPF 30+ in the UK, SPF 50+ abroad) the next morning, and continue daily during and after your peel programme.
Important Reminder:
Never skip the neutraliser step — it is essential for stopping the peel safely and protecting your skin.
